I want to start recording and writing more this year. I’ve been writing on and off this summer and I’ve been planning on getting back into guitar and ukulele stuff of course but I also want to work with home made instruments if I can. Getting pumped about the possibilities.
Recorded a new song today. I used to focus a lot on my vocals and making sure my personality comes through but I’m feeling more like I could play with textures and have more fun with the songs themselves and what they need rather than the persona in them. That probably comes out naturally.
This is what you get for following my blog. Hey listen to it!
Wrote a new song that I like and I would go outside to record it but I would have to walk all the friggn way to the river and I don’t want to walk right now and plus I’m naked and in my room and I’m not leaving and my music isn’t very good anyway.
My name is Tom and I love folk-punk. I tell all my friends about it, and that’s why I don’t have any anymore. I named my bike Chris Clavin and almost cried when it was stolen. At my job I daydream about Pat the Bunny and at night I lie awake thinking about dorky guys with beards playing the banjo.
The following post is a on-the-go review, in which I wrote about every song on the new Folk-O-Rama comp as I heard it for the first time. All the impressions and reviews were written live without pausing the album, and were not edited (only checked for spelling mistakes). So here it is, the most comprehensive and ridiculous folk-o-rama 3 review anyone will ever write:
One of my songs made it on to this most recent volume of Folk-O-Rama that was released about an hour and a half ago. If you don’t know about my shitty music, I play under the name “Mr. Bacon’s Big Adventure” so just look for that.
Also, my friend and one of my favorite music artists Dorian Finch is on here as well! Dude’s the bees knees. Check us both out.
Oh hey look. Miranda took a picture of me between songs the other night. It was like a 45 minute set which is way longer than I usually stay on one stage because my songs are like a minute each. But I played a lot of them.
Anyway, a pretty decent amount of people ended up showing up like halfway through (to see the person after me) and during “All Hands On Deck” I usually pass out little percussion things for people to play in the audience and this little girl (the owners daughter who I think is like 6) ended up with the tambourine and like wouldn’t say a word to me after the show but took on a tambourine solo, mid song, when I asked her to.
I never kept the tracks where I couldn’t hear myself because of the rain. got rid of them on the spot because it didn’t feel right for this one. Wish the thunder made it into this more but I’m glad I got a strike in there. Recorded this as the storm died down towards the end.
I watched Super today to try making myself feel a little better and when it was over I had this really confusing feeling that the movie was really special and a new favorite but I also felt the same as I did before I watched it. So this is attempt #2 to do something that makes me feel less like mud.
I actually recorded two songs so lets see if I can get it up.
